Reconstructive Surgery to Correct Ear Deformity

Some people never consider the thought of how their ears look, but many other people are faced with common problems and deformities of the ears.

Reconstructive or plastic surgery for the ears can provide patients with the ability to repair and correct all kinds of ear damage suffered as a result of injuries, diseases or even deformities that are genetically inherited. Ear surgery is also known as Otoplasty, and it is one of the most common types of plastic surgery. While reconstructive ear surgery is far from perfect, it can enable people who once might have been ridiculed for their ears, to live a normal life without being embarassed by the looks of their ears.

Many people from all over the world choose reconstructive ear surgery. Many are because of injury, or are children with oversized ears, while others are just people who want a different look, whether it's because their ears stick out or are too large. Other reasons to consider reconstructive ear surgery are of people who have cauliflower ears and want to get it corrected, or other ear deformities such as "cup ear" (where portions of the outer ear develop abnormally) and "lop ear" (where the ear grows in a right angle instead of parallel). Thankfully we live in a time that there are many reconstructive options available to people suffering from ear deformities.
